Designing for Impact: Updates on the Toyota Kosen Pavilion, Keio Classes, and Ongoing Project
Toyota Kosen Update
The pavilion project is progressing, with the event scheduled for March 28—our official presentation date. That leaves us about eight more meetings to finalize everything. Is it enough time? I hope so. While some aspects of the project are on track, others need more development, particularly the overall design. We still haven’t settled on a basic form, as further site analysis is crucial before shaping the design. This analysis will guide the design process, ensuring it reflects the context, attracts attention, and conveys a meaningful message.
One element showing strong progress is the “furniture facade.” The overall design is nearly complete, but the students are now focusing on refining the details, particularly how the facade integrates with the furniture components. Once the entire design is finalized, we can begin assembling the pieces into a cohesive structure.
Keio University Update
I was originally scheduled to attend the final class of the term in person this Tuesday, but due to personal reasons, I’ll need to participate online once again. I’m excited to see the students’ final presentations and their progress throughout the term.
Other Projects
The renovation project and the skateboard ramp are still moving forward steadily. Each brings its own set of challenges, but progress continues step by step.

パビリオンプロジェクトは順調に進行中で、発表イベントは3月28日に予定されています。それまでに残されたミーティングは約8回。果たして時間は十分でしょうか？そう願っています。いくつかの要素は順調に進んでいますが、全体的なデザインなど、さらに発展が必要な部分もあります。まだ基本形状を決定しておらず、その前に敷地の分析をより深める必要があります。この分析を基にして、デザインを文脈に合った形で進め、注目を集めるとともに、意味のあるメッセージを伝えるデザインを目指します。
一方、「家具ファサード」という要素は順調に進んでいます。全体的なデザインはほぼ完成していますが、学生たちはファサードと家具の接続部分など、細部の設計に取り組む必要があります。デザイン全体が完成したら、各パーツを組み立てていく段階に入ります。
慶應大学アップデート
今学期最後の授業に今週の火曜日に参加する予定でしたが、個人的な理由で現地に行けなくなってしまいました。そのため、再びオンラインで授業に参加することになりました。学生たちの最終プレゼンテーションを見るのを楽しみにしています。
その他のプロジェクト
改修プロジェクトとスケートボードランプのプロジェクトも引き続き進行中です。それぞれに課題がありますが、一歩ずつ着実に進めています。
最後に、スケートランプは来週、工房に戻り次第完成させる予定です。
